SOLAR HEATING
APPLICATIONS
Solar hot water panels can be ulilised for hydronic floor heating systems during the winter months. Typically, a heat exchange tank stores, transfers the solar heat and distributes the hot water between floor heating and domestic hot water (pool heating can be included).
SOLAR TECHNOLOGY
Any solar system that creates hot water is suitable for hydronic floor heating being either flat panels or evacuated tubes. Comfort Heat can source and install solar hot water panels, if required.
HEAT OUTPUT
The heat output of solar panels is unregulated so requires a suitably sized heat exchange storage tank. Heat output is solely dependent on solar radiation.
INSTALLATION
Solar hydronic floor heating requires a heat exchange storage tank, expansion tank, mixing pump station with a solar by-pass and manifold.
Solar panels are installed on your roof and hot water is pumped into the storage tank when there si a temperature difference between the tank temperature and the panel temperature. Your heated floor area will define the required storage tank size and number of solar panels. The minimum size tank required is 400L+ and minimum number of solar panel is two.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Solar hydronic floor heating requires a booster, either gas, heat pump or electric. This will guarantee that on days with low solar radiation, your floor heating will remain warm.
These specifications are based on a basic solar hydronic floor heating system. If you are interested in further details, please contact our office for more details.
